Teachers in a SHSM program or thinking about applying for a SHSM program are invited to participate in a unique and informative SHSM TOUR to learn about
ONTARIO’S FOREST INDUSTRY, SUSTAINABLE FOREST MANAGEMENT, AND CAREERS IN RELATED SECTORS – FORESTRY, ENVIRONMENT AND CONTRUCTION.

How does the funding work?
The program fees and supply costs are covered for the first 20 participants who qualify (must be current Forestry, Environment or Construction SHSM program or considering applying for a SHSM program in 2017/2018)
Supply Costs: The MNRF will cover up to 1 full day of supply costs (up to $250) and Ministry of Education will cover the 2nd full day of supply (up to $250). Information on how to submit a claim to the MNRF for supply costs will be given out after registration is received.
Travel Costs: These costs are the responsibility of the participant, the Ministry of Educatio will cover some travel costs if needed.
What is included?
Wednesday and Thurday night shared accommodations (in heated modern cabins – all bedding/towels provided)
All meals starting with Thursday breakfast through to Friday lunch
Day and evening activities/sessions beginning at 8pm on Wednesday and concluding at 1pm on Friday
Hands-on and interactive programs to explore various aspects of the forest industry as well as a variety of field trips and guest speakers. Meet forestry professionals and network with our SHSM teachers and/or Board Leads.
Important!
Participants should be prepared to be outdoors, active and be ready for some long days, including a significant amoung of walking at times. There are lots of great things to show you… and we want you to experience it all!
