Ian Tamblyn was born in Thunder Bay, Ontario in 1947. He has been playing music and writing plays since the age of seventeen. Since that time Ian has recorded 45 albums, CDs and cassettes as well as producing albums for over thirty other artists.
A singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with an extensive discography and over 1500 songs to his credit, Ian Tamblyn is an essential figure in the Canadian musical tapestry. Now into the fifth decade of his career, he remains a vibrant and productive artist. Many of his songs have been recorded by others, and he has garnered numerous awards and recognition.
He holds an honourary doctorate from Lakehead University, a distinguished alumni award from Trent University and he is a Fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographic Society. In 2021 Ian Tamblyn was selected as an Officer of the Order of Canada by Governor General Mary Simon. Ian is also the recipient of the Jackie Washington Award, the Victor Tolgasy Award, Estelle Klein Award and the J.D. Coulsen Award.
Rob Millard was born in Cornwall, Ontario in 1974. He currently resides in Carleton Place, Ontario. He holds a degree from Laurentian University’s Outdoor Adventure Leadership Program as well as a Bachelor in Education from University of Western Ontario. He has been teaching Math, Science, Geography, Health Care and Earth and Space Science since 2001 for the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario.
He has a passion for teaching Geoscience and Astronomy. Rob routinely aids in Education workshops to assist teachers, students and the general public to better understand the geology of where they live and an appreciation of the night sky. He is an amateur astronomer and a member of the Royal Astronomical Society in Ottawa. On most clear nights Rob can be found exploring the dark skies of Ontario photographing the heavens through one of his telescopes or running astronomy workshops for his students, their friends and their family’s.
Rob has been a staple with the Canadian Ecology Centre’s educational programs for over a decade, regularly presenting on the Teacher Mining Tours, and teaching the High School Credit Summer School programs for Physics and Earth and Space Science.
